Church is about much more than an hour on a Sunday morning. It is about belonging to a community where friendships grow, faith is nurtured, and people support one another through every season of life.
At St Saviour’s, there are many ways to become involved. Some people first meet us through Sunday worship, while others begin with the Community Café, one of our groups or a special event. However you find us, we hope you will discover a place where you are known, valued and welcome.
Community Cafe
Our Community Café is one of the simplest ways to get to know people at St Saviour’s.
It is open every Wednesday from 11.00am to 1.00pm in the Church Hall on Gladstone Street, offering a light lunch, refreshments and plenty of friendly conversation. Whether you are meeting friends, hoping to make new ones or simply looking for somewhere welcoming to spend part of your day, we would love you to join us.
There is no expectation that you attend church or become involved in anything else. You are very welcome simply to come in, enjoy some food and spend time with others.
Bible Study
The Bible is at the heart of Christian faith, but many people find it difficult to know where to begin. Some wonder whether it is still relevant, while others feel it is too complicated or only really understood by clergy and experts.
Our Bible Study offers a friendly and informal space to read the Bible together, ask questions and explore what it might have to say to our lives today. You do not need any previous knowledge, and there is no expectation that you will have all the answers. We learn by listening to one another, sharing our thoughts and discovering together the hope, challenge and encouragement found in Scripture.

Men’s Social Group
Our Men’s Social Group, known as MENSSA, brings together men of different ages for relaxed evenings of food, drink, conversation and a wide variety of activities.
The group usually meets on the third Tuesday of each month, often gathering outside the church hall at 7.30pm, although arrangements sometimes vary depending on what has been planned. Previous activities have included meals out, snooker, cinema visits, climbing and a tour of Robinsons Brewery.
The atmosphere is friendly and informal, and men over the age of 18 are welcome. You do not need to attend church or already know anyone in the group. Just come along, enjoy the evening and meet people from across the church and local community.
Mother’s Union
Mothers’ Union is a worldwide Christian movement committed to supporting family life and strengthening communities.
Our branch offers friendship, prayer, interesting speakers and opportunities to support projects both locally and further afield. Despite its name, Mothers’ Union is not only for mothers. It welcomes women and men who share its concern for families and its desire to put Christian faith into practical action.
Whether you are interested in fellowship, learning more about faith or supporting others, you will find a warm welcome.
Choir & Music
Music plays an important part in the worship of St Saviour’s, helping us express our faith through hymns, anthems and seasonal services.
Our choir supports the congregation in worship each Sunday and at special services throughout the year. New singers are always welcome, whether you have sung in a choir before or simply enjoy music and would like to explore becoming involved.
Joining the choir is also a wonderful way to make friends, deepen your involvement in worship and contribute to the life of the church.
Prayer & Support
Prayer is woven through the life of St Saviour’s.
Alongside our regular worship, there are opportunities to pray with others, to ask the church to pray for a particular situation, or to speak confidentially with a member of the ministry team.
You do not need to be a regular member of the church to ask for prayer. Whether you are facing illness, bereavement, uncertainty or simply need someone to listen, we would be honoured to support you.
Find Your Place
Everyone’s journey into church is different.
Some people begin by attending worship, while others come to the café, join a group or visit for a community event. There is no pressure to become involved in everything, and you are welcome to take things at your own pace.
However you begin, we would love to help you find a place within the life of St Saviour’s.
