A church at the heart of Great Moor

For well over a century, St Saviour’s has been part of the story of Great Moor. Generations of people have come here to worship God, celebrate life’s happiest moments, find comfort in times of loss, and discover friendship and belonging within a Christian community.
While the world around us has changed, our purpose has remained the same: to share the love of Jesus Christ and to serve the people of Great Moor with faith, hope and compassion.

Today, St Saviour’s is a church family made up of people of all ages and backgrounds. Some have worshipped here for many years, while others have only recently discovered us. Whoever you are, wherever you’ve come from, and whatever has brought you here, you’ll find a warm welcome.

OUR PURPOSE

Passion for Christ. Compassion for All.

Those five words capture the heart of who we are.
Everything we do begins with Jesus Christ. We believe that his life, death and resurrection bring hope to the world, and we want our lives to reflect his love in everything we do.
That means our faith isn’t something we keep within the walls of our church building. It shapes how we care for one another, how we welcome newcomers, how we support those in need and how we serve our local community.
Whether we’re worshipping together on a Sunday morning, running activities for children and families, visiting someone who is unwell, or simply sharing a conversation over a cup of tea after a service, our hope is always the same: that people might encounter something of God’s love through the life of this church.

Our Story

St Saviour’s has stood at the heart of Great Moor since 1913, serving the community through times of peace and conflict, celebration and sorrow, growth and change. Countless lives have been shaped here through baptisms, weddings, funerals and weekly worship, and we’re grateful for the faith and generosity of those who have gone before us.
Our history is something we treasure—not because we want to live in the past, but because it reminds us of God’s faithfulness through every generation. As new people become part of the life of the church, that story continues to be written.

Looking to the future

We’re excited about the future God has for St Saviour’s.
We want to be a church where everyone can find a place to belong, where children and older generations worship alongside one another, where people feel able to ask honest questions about faith, and where our community experiences God’s love in practical and meaningful ways.
We’re committed to growing as disciples of Jesus, deepening our relationships with one another, and serving Great Moor with generosity, humility and hope.
We know we’re not a perfect church—because we’re made up of ordinary people—but we believe God is still at work among us, and we’d love you to be part of that story.
