Funerals

A Time to Remember, Give Thanks and Find Hope

Losing someone you love is one of the hardest experiences we face.

When someone dies, there can be so much to think about at a time when it’s difficult to know where to begin. At St Saviour’s, we’re here to offer pastoral care, practical guidance and a Christian funeral that gives thanks for a life lived while sharing the hope that our faith brings.
Every person is unique, and every funeral should reflect that. Whether your loved one had a strong Christian faith, a quiet belief, or no connection with the church at all, we’ll take the time to listen to your memories and help you plan a service that is personal, dignified and meaningful.
Above all, we want to walk alongside you with compassion and care during what is often one of life’s most difficult seasons.

Planning a Funeral

We know that arranging a funeral can feel overwhelming, particularly in the days immediately after someone has died. You won’t have to navigate it alone.
We’ll meet with you to learn about your loved one, listen to the stories that made them who they were, and help you create a service that gives thanks for their life. Together we’ll choose readings, prayers, hymns and music that reflect both the person you are remembering and the hope offered by the Christian faith.
We work closely with local funeral directors and will guide you through every stage of the planning process, ensuring that you feel supported from beginning to end.

Where Can the Service Take Place?

We are able to conduct funeral services in a number of different settings, depending on what is right for you and your family.
These include:
A funeral service at St Saviour’s Church.
A service at the crematorium.
A service at the cemetery.
A service in church followed by a committal at the crematorium or cemetery.
A memorial or thanksgiving service following a direct cremation.
If you’re unsure which option would be most appropriate, we’d be very happy to talk through the possibilities with you.

Memorial Services Following a Direct Cremation

In recent years, more families have chosen a direct cremation, where the cremation takes place without a funeral service or anyone present.
While this can be the right decision for some, many people later discover that they miss having the opportunity to gather with family and friends, to remember the person who has died, to give thanks for their life, and to begin processing their grief together.
It’s important to know that choosing a direct cremation doesn’t mean you’ve missed the chance to have a meaningful service.
At St Saviour’s, we’re able to offer memorial or thanksgiving services following a direct cremation. These services can include music, readings, prayers, hymns, personal tributes and moments of quiet reflection, providing space to celebrate a life well lived while finding comfort and hope in the Christian faith.
Whether the direct cremation took place a few weeks ago or many months ago, we’d be honoured to help you plan a service that feels right for you and your family.
