Christenings

If you live in the parish and want to have a Christening at St. Saviour's all you need to do is telephone me. Christenings are generally held on the 3rd Sunday of every month. There is no cost, there are no barriers and no classes to attend, and I will try and accommodate your needs as a family wherever possible.

Weddings

Are you thinking of getting married? Again, all you need to do is decide on the date and give me a call. Being divorced is no longer an insurmountable problem for those who wish to be married in church. Please just telephone me and arrange to come and meet with me. I believe in a loving and forgiving God and therefore I am more than happy to discuss the remarriage of divorced people in church.

Funerals

For many people the subject of death is a very sensitive issue. When a loved one dies we are in a state of shock and bewilderment. The Funeral Director arrives to make the funeral arrangements and will ask you if you would like to go into church for the service or go straight to the Crematorium. All you need to do is tell the Funeral Director you would like a church service.

The funeral would be a service of thanksgiving with a personal tribute to the person's life. Because of time pressures at the Crematorium, I encourage you to use the church for a short service. Obviously I hope we never need to meet under sad circumstances but if we did I want you to know that your church cares very much and wants to support and comfort you.

As your parish priest I have a pastoral responsibility to care for you and minister to you, not only at the joyful times in your life, but also at sad and traumatic times, and consider it a tremendous privilege. I can't emphasize enough that St. Saviour's is your Church ~ please use us.

Diane is Chapter Clerk for the Deanery of Stockport , a vocations advisor and a mentor to new curates. She is also Honorary Canon and Chaplain at Chester Cathedral.
